A Gift (Puraskaar) of education

Updated: Apr 10, 2023

I am from Nalanda, Bihar, an alumnus of the prestigious JNU, New Delhi. I have more than 10 years of experience as a Japanese Language Translator.

In 2020, when we all were going through the unprecedented times of Covid-19 waves. And all educational institutes were closed indefinitely, online was the new normal in the field of education. It was during such class that my house worker reached out to me with a request that she is worried about the education of her children and any arrangement can be done for her children as well.

I shared the very thought with my students and asked if anyone wants to volunteer for the time being. Their response was why just her children, we can take classes for many other children.

That idea and the response to the idea paved the way for the inception of PURASKAAR. We started taking the classes. And people started joining us voluntarily, in whatever capacity they could. While few took charge of different subjects, few helped us logistically, few came up with the distribution of accessories like pens, pencils, books and copies. And then we got the volunteer who helped us build our website.

We started expanding and not just school academics, we introduced languages, art, and craft in our curriculum and all this with the help and support of all. We started with just three volunteers and have grown to a team of 200+ members from various backgrounds. The organisation's impact can be seen in the success of its students, who have gained admission into top universities and improved their language skills. The ultimate goal of Puraskaar is to make education accessible to all.

We want PURASKAAR to scale a new height and reach out to as many cities as possible so that we can help as many children as possible and give them a Gift (Puraskaar) of education.

Gautam is such an inspiration to all of us. Hope he achieves new heights in

his vision of gifting Puraskaar of education.
