And I became India’s first Gamer Mummy

In the era of the gaming world, you may have heard countless stories of parents feeling frustrated due to their child’s addiction to games. I understand your pain. And regarding that, I’ve something special to share with you. Keep reading!

If you’re a parent worried about your child gluing to the screen the whole day, around two years ago, I felt the same. If you’re a kid passionate about playing games, I’m one of you. I love playing games. I know it must be tough to digest, but it’s true! Let me share how it started.

During the COVID lock-down, I noticed my son, Harsh addicted to games. Wo sara din screen se chipka rahta tha. Aur ishi karan padhta bhi nahi tha. Mujhe bohot chinta hoti thi. Maine thoda gussa bhi kiya. Lekin koi fayda nahi dhika. So, I thought of befriending him and took a genuine interest in the games he played. The initial response was, ‘Mummy, aap nahi khel paoge.’ I kept replying, ‘Tu shika de to mai khel lungi.’ Finally, he took me seriously and mera beta mera guru ban gaya. While learning, I had some of the most memorable times with my son. I played with his friends too and gradually learned more games with them.

COVID ke karan ghar ke bahar bohot negativity thi. Fortunately, inside the home, we got something to get distracted from the gloomy situation outside. Time kaise kat raha tha pata hi nahi chalta tha. And the best part was Harsh also got back to studies. To ab padhai ke time padhai aur game ke waqt game. So, to all the parents worried about their kids, let me tell you, try to show faith in your kids. They are your child, not a criminal. So, showing aggression won’t help. And due to generation gap, sometimes you may find it tough to digest some shades of your child’s life. But you got to trust them and take a pause to understand their world and walk hand-in-hand with them.

As for my part, my family encouraged me to purse PC gaming professionally and helped me open my YouTube channel. And that’s how Gamer Mummy was born. I’ve won a few gaming competitions as well.

You know my husband is a retired army officer. After retirement, he has decided to help me build my career as a Gamer. He said, ‘Tune itne saal family ko sambhala, ab meri bari.’ He has especially done an editing course to help me. Now my kids are busy in building their career, aur hum pati-patni lage hue hai meri career build karne main. I’m proud of having such a lovely family by my side.

And to all the mother’s, especially housewives, let my story be an inspiration to you. If you feel there something that gives a special purpose in your life, purse it. Pursue it without thing about what others will think. You may face various difficulties, but trust me, bohot maza aayega. You’ll feel a different spark in your life. Something that will change your life and inspire others!

Isn’t Gamer Mummy an inspiration to all those who fear to pursue their dream just for the sake of what others will think about them?
