Crafting Stories: A Journey from Literature to the Big Screen

I grew up surrounded by literature because my dad is a Hindi Literature professor. Even though I was studying science, when I couldn't go out to play during the afternoon, I started reading literature books. Eventually, I began writing during my college days just to express myself; it wasn't a plan for a career.

While doing my MBA, I joined my college’s theatre society and got opportunities to write for papers. In a big city like Indore, I seized the chances that came my way. After my MBA, I became a Copywriter and entered the Advertising industry. I worked with brands like Complan, Bajaj, Thumps Up, State Bank of India, etc. However, I missed the creative freedom of literature, so I left the job after four years.

I started freelancing and tried fiction writing. I worked on 'Happi,' an ode to Charlie Chaplin starring the legend Pankaj Kapoor. I wrote the screenplay, dialogue, and two songs. Attending the shoots helped me learn a lot. The experience led me to work on more projects like Salt ‘N’ Pepper, Jutti, Ek tha Bhujang, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Apharan, and Undheki. I have also written the dialogues for ‘Rakshak India's Braves: Chapter 2’ now streaming on Amazon prime mini.

Through these projects, I realised it's easy to criticise as an audience, but as a filmmaker, it’s difficult to put everything together. Film-making involves many factors to bring a certain emotion at a point of time. And sometimes things don't go as planned. No filmmaker wants to make a bad movie.

My recent work is 'Crack,' a commercial action thriller film. I’ve co-written it along with two other writers. And I’ve contributed to the story, screenplay, and dialogues. Aditya Datt has directed the film.

You know the real challenge or thrill in an action movie is to shoot even a small action sequence, it takes around a week. So, yes, the entire cast has put a lot of effort into entertaining the audience. I suggest ‘Crack’ ko dhekne ka maja big screen me hai. So do watch the movie about ‘Underground Extreme Sports’ in theatres.
