From teens to adults, we’ve come a long way…

I met Yogin when we were nine years old. I just knew him as an academically intelligent boy. Next year, we hosted a school event together. I remember munching on the snacks together after the event. The seed for love was shown then, but I was too naive to understand the most beautiful feeling of our Universe. At the 13th, we were in the same class. He would always help me with my studies as he was the topper of the class. But after school, he would try to stay away from me. Later, I found he was scared to fall in love with me.

During our college years, we came closer even though we were in different cities. He was in Nagpur, and I was in Mumbai. Our calls would start at 12 a.m and end at 8 a.m. For the college holidays, he visited Mumbai, and we planned to meet on 5th May 2012 at 5:05 pm just to make it special. We spent the evening together, and finally, once we reached home, we connected over a call and from then, we felt like dating. Till today we celebrate that day as our anniversary. Unfortunately, I lost my mom the same year. But I feel God has made sure to have a gift of love by my side. She also liked Yogin and was happy about our relationship.

Our relationship isn’t perfect, but our love is! And I guess that’s enough. You know, once he gifted me a Swarovski ring that I liked. He saved from his pocket money and even travelled in sleeper class. I couldn’t stop crying when he gave me the ring.

During his college placements, he was so tense that he called me and said, ‘Ishita, I think you need to find someone who can give you the same comfortable life that your dad has given you. I have been rejected in two back-to-back interviews, and I don’t think I’m the one for you.’ I replied, ‘I’m busy. Do you have anything important to say other than this?’ He said, ‘I’m serious!’ ‘Calm down. I believe in you more than you believe in yourself,’ I replied, and he got his dream job placement the next day.

Life is good now. You know, finally, Yogin proposed to me in the Maldives. Isn’t it a dream of many people? From teens to adults, we’ve come a long way and still have a long way to go! I often hear that teenage relationships don’t work. Look, it’s not about the age. It’s about the love you share in between. Of course, it has some big challenges. Like you aren’t clear about your career, and ideologies may fall apart. But it has innocence. And isn’t innocence the most beautiful part of love? So don’t worry, just go with the flow and have patience too!

Now at 29, we are travelling the world and having the life I am so content and happy with. Hope you also find a loving partner like mine!

Wow! Seems like Ishita and Yogin’s love story is a match made in heaven.
