I hope I can venture into filmmaking full time soon.

Updated: Jun 22, 2023

I’m based out of Jabalpur, MP. Did my schooling there, and after the twelfth, I went to IIIT, Hyderabad, to pursue B.Tech. After placement, I moved to Mumbai for my first job, as a Software Engineer.

I have had some sort of creative keeda since childhood but it didn’t have any proper outlet. Like, I used to jot down random creative ideas sometimes. I thought I’d become a novelist after I read Harry Potter during my school time. But I didn’t use to write much and if at all, I would start on some story idea, usually it was left incomplete. And naturally I didn’t like sharing any of it either.

Mumbai gave me an excellent opportunity to add wings to my creative keeda. I somehow felt drawn towards film-making. I stayed there for two years. And along with the day job, I would attend some writing workshops, film-making meetups, literary feats and also a couple of plays at Prithvi Theatre.

All these efforts helped me to drill down my creative calling, i.e., Film-making and in that Screenwriting. I began to learn the nuts and bolts of screenwriting by reading books, watching interviews of famous screenwriters and directors and also began to read scripts of successful films.

After Mumbai, I shifted to Bangalore for a couple of years due to my job switch and then finally back to Hyderabad. During all this time, I began to write in a more systematic manner as I did get a clear vision of writing screenplays as my future. Finally, I shed my reluctance and decided to show my work to someone because that’s what an artist does. And that’s when I decided to make a short film of a script I had written some time back.

That’s basically the story of my debut short film, Adrishya. It has been released on Humara Movie. It’s a psychological mystery and, in a way, related to destiny. The movie is a cinematic creation of a one-line thought that came into my mind. It is written and directed by me.

Without giving you any spoilers, I would like to say that the movie is about a guy called Jagdish. He starts to see glimpses of the future in his dreams. So, to know more, watch the film on YouTube for free. You’ll surely have a great time!

And, by the way, Tanay Paranjpe is the cinematographer in the movie. His brother, Tejas Paranjpe, has been my friend since we were six. I’m really grateful to both of them for the brainstorming and creative discussions we had in the pre production. In the film credits, you see them as part of the Creative Team.

I really loved the whole process of making this film, right from writing the script, till cutting the last edit. I hope I can venture into film-making full time soon.

We’re glad to partner with Humara Movie. They release a film every week. And we feature the story of someone behind the film. After all, everyone has a story.

Delhi Stories is an emerging platform to feature inspirational, motivational, relatable and beautiful stories. Do you also have an interesting story like Mohit?
