It took us 45 mins to record our first line.

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

During my school days, I watched ‘Zaika India Ka’ while having lunch after school, and that guy's life inspired me a lot. I mean, you need good food, travel and talk to new people. But I never thought of doing the same thing.

Growing up, me and Rishabh both were going through individual conflicts about our future plans, as in what we would do etc. You will be surprised to know that Rishabh was in the middle of his CAT exam when he realised he don’t want to do that. As soon as he came out of the exam hall, he called me first. And he immediately said Priyanka, this is not working for me. I want to do something else. I guess we can be a good team and we can do something great together.

We discussed many things and then came up with the idea of starting a YouTube channel and making some unique content. I am a person who loves doing unique things. Also, I was a camera-conscious person back then. But, I took this as a challenge, as I wanted to bring out some changes in myself, changes that help me become a better person.

As kids, we heard about ‘Chor Bazaar’, so we thought, why not just shoot there? Many people must have never been there but always wanted to know about the place. Like, what do they sell? Where do they get from? And how do they sell?

So to feed our curiosity and of the audiences, we decided our first vlog shoot will be Chor Bazaar. Rishabh took out his scooty, and we reached the venue. It took us 45 mins to record our first clip, our first line, ‘Hi guys this is Sadi Gaddi, and this is Priyanka and Rishabh’ but after that Boom! That's how Sadi Gaddi came into existence.

Rishabh, in his school days, hum a song, “Sadi Gaddi Kadi Bees Te, Te Kadi 30 Te Par Full Speed Te’ or something like that, from the song, we thought of ‘Sadi Gaddi Full Speed’ but everybody started calling it 'Sadi Gaddi' as it was easy to pronounce and we named it 'Sadi Gaddi'. Back then, Scooty was our Gadi, and many videos were shot on that Scooty.

Creating a platform and making sure it reaches the people is not a cakewalk, it takes lots of learning, good experience, bad experience, highs and lows, conflict of interest, fights and a lot of laughter. There were sleepless nights, but it has been a beautiful journey. Never stop dreaming, and never stop believing in yourself. I was somebody who was camera conscious, and it took us 45 mins to record our first line, but we kept trying, and here we are.

Delhi Stories is an emerging platform to feature inspirational, motivational,

relatable and beautiful stories. What’s sadi story?
