‘Khazaana’ is a feel-good film that a lot of parents would relate to.

Updated: Dec 9, 2023

I have seen my daughter falling prey to the perils of mobile addiction. As a child, I envied my friends who played fancy video games because I didn’t have them. However, I never thought that many years later, I would be envying the parents who would succeed in making their children play on the ground. Ironic! Isn’t it?

We’ve lived in a time when there were no mobile phones. Outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Langdi, Kho-Kho etc, were our rescue from studies and TV sets. Things have changed today. The advent of technology and gadgets has refrained kids from hitting the ground to a great extent. It may sound like the stereotypical fuddy-duddy gossip who says, “Oh! Aaj kal ke bacche toh khelna koodna bhool hi gaye hain”, while shaking their heads, but it’s the truth.

I strongly felt the need to urge today’s children and parents to draw a line when it comes to ‘mobile screen time’. So, I decided to make a short film to communicate this idea and engage and entertain the audience. I wrote and pitched the script to many people but never got the money to make this film. Finally, Humara Movie embraced the idea and agreed to collaborate as co-producers with me on this film. I’m grateful to them for giving me the means and support for this film.

The short film is called ‘Khazaana’. The story is from the point of view of two men who plan to bring the ‘mobile-addicted’ children to the playground. The story uses the theme of the classic game ‘treasure hunt’, where the treasure is used as a metaphor to underline the idea of the ‘actual treasure’ for today’s children.

I rekindled my childhood nostalgia and took a trip down memory lane while making this film. It would be great if all the parents and children, too, get along with me on this trip by watching the film on Humara Movie . It’s a feel-good film that a lot of parents would relate to. Feel free to share your views on the film in the comments section. I would be glad to reply and interact with you all!

We’re glad to partner with Humara Movie. They release a short film every week. And we feature the story of someone behind the film. After all, everyone has a story.
