My fractured leg gave wings to my love for art.

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

I am originally from Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, but I was born and raised in Delhi. I have been an ardent admirer of art and culture all my life, although it took me some time to have my real encounter with art. Therefore I wish to introduce myself as a journalist by profession ( I work with Doordarshan) and an artist at heart. In 2017, my leg fractured, and the sudden abundance of time was disturbing. I befriended a pen and paper and filled pages with doodles. It was the first time I created art. My friends showered appreciation, but I didn’t pay much heed. It was in February 2018 when I bumped into Madhubani Art at Delhi Hatt, where award-winning artists showcase art forms of different states. My interaction with a few artists kindled my love for Madhubani Art in me. After a few days, I created a Madhubani Painting of 6 fishes. The appreciation of my acquaintances was overwhelming and pushed me to take my first baby step. But this time, as an artist, not a connoisseur of art. I started an Instagram page in the name of Madhubani Magic to display my paintings. Following it, I developed a fusion of both art forms to promote the Aipan art form of Uttarakhand, with my love for Madhubani from Mithila still intact. I renamed my Instagram page after that as Mithilaipan. My journey as an artist has been very exciting. I happened to come across brilliant artists who get lost in the crowd. To help them establish their identity, I started another Instagram page named Madhubai Sharing on 28th march 2020 to bring together art and artists from across the globe within 7 months. We are a family of more than 30k art lovers. I have been a part of several notable Art festivals as a speaker. Besides sharing my views, I have been able to get exposed to the vastness of art. Meeting the legend of Madhubani art, Padma Shri Bauaa Devi Ji, was no less than a privilege. The journey as an artist is arduous yet fulfilling. People's love has been the reason for my progress. Each day I get up with the belief, ‘to be actively engaged in doing something meaningful to you is the highest goal of life’.
