Paperclip binds pieces of stories together.

Updated: May 26, 2023

We (Srinwantu Dey and Indranath Mukherjee) met around 15 years back via Orkut. After the initial conversation, we found a lot of common strings between us. We loved soccer! Our favourite team is Argentina! And we are Bengali too!

Our friendship grew over the years. And our love for the sports resulted in the foundation of goaldentimes.org in 2011 along with a bunch of like minded and brilliant folks. A website for original and long-form writing and visuals for a modern and elegant football audience.

Soon our digital space became popular for setting a new standard for football writing and inspiration. We were featured on the various national and international media. And guess what? In 2015, we won the ‘Best Established Football Blog (fan’s choice)’ award in Manchester, UK.

We also co-authored a book titled, ‘Tiro: A Football Odyssey from Amazon to Alps’, which also received critical response from football enthusiasts.

While things were going great - a sense of saturation started caving-in around 2019. So we decided to close operations for goaldentimes.org but keep the website free and live for football lovers, forever.

Meanwhile, we started brainstorming new ideas. And what came to our rescue? Social Media! Again!

This time Trinanjan Chakraborty joined us along with few other inspirational minds - Abhinav Maitra, Priyadarshini Basu, Saumyajit Ray and Subhajit Sengupta bringing in diverse set of experience.

Trinanjan is a passionate storyteller with a deep understanding of history, also the author of the book - ‘The Forgotten Sons: Untold Stories of Indian Cricket’.

Somehow, our conversation aligned between the misinformation and the fake news shared online and lack of deeply researched content in India’s non-fiction landscape. And our research concluded around the many little-known stories connected with our history. So, we decided to share these stories by binding the different sources from our history.

The process felt like a Paper Clip. You know how a paper clip binds pieces of paper together - we bind stories from India & beyond, those are engaging and often thought provoking. And that’s how we launched thepaperclip.in on 15th August, 2021.

Within a short span of time, The Paperclip has attracted a huge audience across the web-space. On Twitter we are growing with a community of 55K together within one and half years of our inception. And through Paperclip, we aim to become India’s most authentic and exciting storytelling medium. Hope you also join our mission too!

Delhi Stories is an emerging platform to feature inspirational, motivational, relatable and beautiful stories. Do you also have an inspiring story of friendship like Srinwantu, Indranath and Trinanjan?
