Unfortunately, I’m also a victim of alcoholism.

Why direction? People often ask me this question. I haven’t talked about the real story behind choosing the direction. But I guess now is the right time to talk about it.

Growing up, I’ve seen many people suffer due to alcohol. The addiction hampered their personal and professional life. Unfortunately, I’m also the victim. Can’t mention his name here. But, thank god, he is perfectly fine now.

But this fight with alcoholism hurt me badly. It cost me some of the most wonderful years of my life. I still get shivers recalling those traumatic moments. So, growing up, I would often wonder what I should do to bring a change. You know, something that’ll move people to change for good.

Since childhood, I have been a movie buff. Cinema impacted my life a lot. I knew I wanted to make a career in the film industry. But entering the industry isn’t a cakewalk. So, I started with fashion photography. Gradually, I moved towards the cinema.

Initially, I wasn’t clear about the direction. So, I explored! Explored as a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. As time flew, I figured that I liked storytelling. I loved to tell stories. So, I wrote stories and directed them.

The simple truth about the journey in the industry is that it needs patience. So you need to keep showing up and just go with the flow.

You know, when I didn’t have anything to survive in my initial days, I sold stories. Some were tough to sell because I had written them for myself. I wanted to direct them. But those times were tough. You can’t survive on an empty stomach. So with a heavy heart, I sold them and silently wished for the time to change.

Fortunately, now I’m in a good space. Recently we’ve launched a short movie titled ‘Ahassas’. I’ve written and directed it. And it is inspired by real-life incidents. Do watch it on the humaramovie's Youtube. The movie may make you emotional. But I promise the experience will be wholesome!

We are glad that Vivek choose to pursue art to bring a change.
